Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Never Truly Feeling Loved: A Personal Reflection

In a revealing new interview on the Howard Stern Show, Jennifer Lopez shared an honest assessment of her romantic history, admitting that she feels she’s “never truly been loved” despite experiencing loving someone deeply herself. The 56-year-old singer and actress, who has been married four times—including most recently to Ben Affleck—emphasized the lessons she’s learned through her high-profile relationships.

When directly asked by Howard Stern, “Do you think you’ve truly been loved?” Lopez responded after a thoughtful pause, “No.” She clarified, however, that she knows what it means to love another. Lopez explained, “What I learned is, it’s not that I’m not lovable – it’s that they’re not capable… They don’t have it in them. They gave me what they had, every time. The houses, the rings, the marriage—all of it. But in the end…” she reflected, trailing off on what they were able to provide emotionally.

Part of Lopez’s journey has included recognizing her own struggles with self-love. She acknowledged that during previous relationships, she “didn’t love herself” fully, a realization that’s prompted her to seek personal growth and healing with the help of therapists and coaches after her recent divorce from Affleck. She called her most recent separation “the best thing that ever happened to me,” as it triggered a period of deep self-discovery and transformation.

Lopez made it clear that she now values her own well-being and self-worth above all else. She humorously noted she prefers not to check in on ex-partners once a relationship ends, emphasizing her focus on moving forward. Despite her candid remarks, Lopez remains hopeful about finding a meaningful partnership in the future, stating she still desires someone to share her life and important moments with.

Her candidness on the Howard Stern Show is a reminder that even those in the public eye face deep, personal struggles with love and acceptance—but that self-love can ultimately lead to resilience and fulfillment.
