‘Bachpan mein thoda cricket khela hota toh,’ Anushka Sharma captions a selfie from Chakda Xpress prep

Anushka Sharma shares photographs and videos of her practise sessions with her fans as she prepares for her role in Chakda Xpress.
Anushka Sharma, who hasn’t been seen on the big screen in a while, is gearing up for her role in Chakda Xpress. Jhulan Goswami, an Indian lady cricketer, is the character played by the actress in the film. On Wednesday, the ‘Sui Dhaaga’ actress posted a humorous photo on her Instagram story.
She stood for the camera wearing a white T-shirt with her hair wrapped in the back and her hand on her lips. “Kaash bachpan mein kuch toh cricket khela hota toh aaj haalat aise na hoti (If I had played little cricket in my youth, I would not have suffered like this today),” the actress wrote with the selfie. That’s what we’ve all thought at some point in our lives.
Jhulan Goswami’s ascent up the corporate ladder, despite the obstacles posed by sexist politics, has motivated Chakda Xpress to realise her ambition of playing cricket for India. In January of this year, Anushka Sharma teased the film with a trailer.  “Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket. Jhulan had a fighting and extremely uncertain cricketing career and she stayed motivated to make her country proud. She strived to change the stereotype that women can’t make a career out of playing cricket in India so that the next generation of girls had a better playing field.”
