IMDb. 12 Top Rated Bollywood Movies According to War If the patriotism, action and visuals that keep your adrenaline boosting keep you hooked then these movies could be the one for you. Sure Bollywood doesn’t always come up with masterpieces, but when it does, it comes with a bang. At times either filled with so many gruesome scenes or so full of patriotism that it almost seems pretentious. Unlike these movies, which have the right mix of everything.
These are some of the top war based Indian movies that have been rated on IMDB:
1. Sher Shah: – 8.8
The writers got very little creative with the script and stuck to the facts which turned out to be a very good move. There was no unnecessary Bollywood spice in the story, but the character build-up of the hero we all know today was done beautifully. The majority of the script was in Punjabi dialect and part of young Vikram Batra was in Pahari dialect to represent his linguistic background, which in fact has been missing from Bollywood for a long time. The dialogues were written in such a way that a viewer would be swayed into the spectator watching two real-life people interact.
A war film without the unnecessary gruesome scenes of patriotism overpowered him. It was real and even the violence scenes would fill you with anger at the injustice done. By the end of the film, you will connect and sympathize with the young captain. The song that was playing in the backdrop was already a hit but when I saw it, the lyrics of the song sounded apt for the scene.
The glorification of war by well-dressed journalists is unclear, but this is the true spirit of patriotism, young men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country. Captain Vikram Batra was a hero even before joining the army but his purpose in life saved many lives. He has a story that must be seen.

2. Uri: The Surgical Strike – 8.2
Based on the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army in 2016, this movie is really worth watching. It is well developed and keeps you engrossed throughout. Though the story is predictable (since we all have read about the totally successful mission) yet the film keeps you hooked. There are moments that will give you goosebumps, make you laugh, make your eyes moist but will surely make you feel very proud of our national heroes and their abilities.
In terms of star cast, this has been yet another scintillating performance by Vicky Kaushal, moving from strength to strength. He is brilliant as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill and confident as both a ruthless military officer on the battlefield and a gentleman (a caring son, a loving brother) off the field. He is well supported by Paresh Rawal (based on Ajit Doval as Govind), Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Kirti Kulhari.

A beautiful and brilliantly executed film! This may simply be John Abraham’s best work. Excellent direction by Shoojit Sircar. The screenplay, acting, direction, music and plot were all amazing. 9. tango charlie – 6.0
Many a times we appreciate our jawans by giving them the name of Army Jawans. But BSF or CRPF they fight for us in very different circumstances from controlling riots everywhere all over India, from fighting Naxalites to securing international borders.
The film depicts the same life in a real way and honors these paramilitary jawans. But it is also true that paramilitary forces lack infra and combat equipment. Just check the Pulwama attack, the jawans were not seated, how many casualties did the bulletproof buses cause, and of course, there were other reasons too but a big salute to all these brave soldiers.

The story weaves around the life of Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian Air Force woman officer to enter the war zone, who aspired to be a pilot since childhood and kept smiling.
There are two wars in the film – one between India and Pakistan and the other of gender discrimination. The film so effectively shows his struggle to make his family follow his dream of becoming a pilot, when seeing what only men in the time (1990s) could do, he was able to do so in his own right. Faced with the dominant patriarchal society in the workplace. , stereotypes and how he is repeatedly denied opportunities to advance because many people think that if a woman takes the lead, it is a question of a man’s masculinity.
