We all are well aware by now about Neeraj Chopra, who has made the country proud. He is just the 23-year-old Indian javelin thrower who finished first at the Tokyo Olympics. Not only this, he created history by doing so, but also won India’s first athletics medal.
Neeraj has been trained under Uwe Hon, who is also an Olympic athlete. When it comes to javelin, Neeraj has a personal best of 88.07m (2021). Some of the awards he received are Arjuna Award for Athletics, Gold Medal in Olympics 2020 etc.
Now that we all know about his stellar performance, not to mention that he has already become a national crush on Twitter. Do we know what happens when it comes to getting married and settling down?
Neeraj was in conversation with famous retired Indian cricketer Kapil Dev. Where Kapil asks him about his childhood, how he got into javelin throw, his plans about marriage etc.
In the interview, Neeraj said that he was a fat and fat child. His uncle took him to athletics training to lose some weight. The javelin was never a part of his plan, Neeraj used to watch other players practice and that sparked his interest. He wanted practical experience in that field. And now he brought India’s first athletics gold.
Neeraj has also received words of appreciation from Indian actor Arjun Kapoor. He was amazed how beautifully Neeraj came out of his “fat phase” and now he has made the whole country proud.
“When I went to the stadium, sport was never part of the plan, neither playing for my country nor winning a medal. No one in my family or in my village is in the game. Later, I worked really hard and got a lot of support from everyone,” Neeraj Chopra told ANI on Sunday.
When asked why he dedicated his gold medal to Late Milkha Singh? Neeraj replied that when he saw Milkha losing a medal for a few meters and wished someone from India brought home the medal. This inspired Neeraj and now that he won the medal, he completely dedicated his gold medal to Milkha Singh. What a beautiful sentiment
Kapil Dev asks Neeraj about his wedding plans
Kapil asks the gold medalist about the plans he has for Neeraj’s wedding. Chopra replied to the question with a shy smile but said that her ‘full focus is on the game’. He said,
“No, I am completely focused on the game. Everything else will go on, but I would like to focus my full attention on the game for now.
