In her first public comments since finalizing her divorce from country music star Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman opened up with grace and focus on family in a new interview with Variety, published March 11, 2026. The Oscar-winning actress, 58, confirmed the end of their 19-year marriage while emphasizing her commitment to moving forward positively and protecting her loved ones.
Kidman and Urban, also 58, married in 2006 after meeting in 2005. They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman also has two adult children, Isabella (32) and Connor (30), from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise. The couple announced their separation in late September 2025 after living apart since the summer, with Kidman filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. The split was settled amicably and finalized in January 2026, with no alimony, child support, or contested discovery process.

In the candid conversation, Kidman reflected on her current state when asked how she’s doing amid personal changes. “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she said. She expressed deep gratitude for her family unit: “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect.”

She reiterated the importance of their bond as parents: “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
Kidman also shared thoughtful insights on love and resilience, drawing from her own experiences: “Real love happens not when everything is going well but when things are going badly. It’s when human beings come together, if they’re going to, in a far deeper way. You’re then having to work together, and the ‘together’ is what it’s about.”

The custody arrangement reflects their priority on cooperative parenting: Kidman serves as the primary residential parent with 306 days per year, while Urban has the children every other weekend and 59 days annually. Both agreed to joint legal custody, to foster a loving environment, and to encourage the girls to maintain strong relationships with each parent. They also committed to attending a parenting seminar unless exempted.

The divorce followed a period of separation influenced by demanding schedules—Urban’s High and Alive World Tour kept him on the road through much of 2025, while Kidman continued her prolific acting career. Their last public appearance together was in June 2025 at the FIFA Club World Cup, and they marked their 19th wedding anniversary privately that same month.
Despite the end of their romantic partnership, Kidman has maintained a poised and private approach, rarely addressing the split until now. She continues to reside in Nashville and remains focused on her daughters’ well-being, as well as upcoming projects including a Practical Magic sequel and other roles signaling a strong 2026.
